Department of the Interior Executive Forums: Washington, DC

 

The Department of the Interior Executive Forums feature award-winning authors, renowned academics, and proven business leaders in a four-hour round table session with Interior’s top leaders. Executives share lessons learned and discuss how new ideas apply to Interior situations. Forums have celebrated the building of the National Museum of the American Indian. Authors have included Pulitzer Prize winner, Richard Rhodes; leading expert on the economics of innovation, Michael Schrage; editor, Duane Blue Spruce; and business columnist, James Surowiecki. Senior Executive Service Forum Series: Washington, DC
 

The Senior Executive Service Forum Series provides SES members development and reinforcement of their skills and knowledge in Executive Core Qualifications (ECQs) as defined by the Office of Personnel Management. The objectives of the Forums are to provide an exchange of ideas on issues related to leadership, policy, and management; provide resources for career and personal development; and strengthen relationships among SES members across federal departments and agencies.. Government Wide Forums

 

Government Wide Forums in Washington, DC: Career, Balance and Diversity Forums feature award-winning authors, renowned academics, and other experts who explore topics relating to work and home life. The forum series is a subscription based program designed to help government employees balance career, family and diversity in the work place. Each program in the series features an interactive workshop with the author of a featured book, a copy of the book, a book signing, and an opportunity to network with other Federal employees. Forums are competency-based around the Office of Personnel Management's Executive Core Qualifications. Most Forums are only open to employees from partnering Federal agencies in the Washington, DC metro area. One or more Forums are open to the public each year. Government Wide Forums: Denver, CO: Career, Quality of Life and Leadership Forums feature locally and nationally known authors who engage Federal audiences at all levels of the partnering organizations. The forum series is a subscription based program designed to help Federal employees broaden their knowledge of career, quality of life and leadership issues. Each program in the series includes an interactive workshop with the author of a featured book, a copy of the book, a book signing, and an opportunity to network with other Federal employees. Forums are competency-based around the Office of Personnel Management's Executive Core Qualifications. Forums are only open to employees from partnering Federal agencies in the Denver, CO area. Public School Partnerships: The Office of the Secretary and the National Business Center work closely with four local Washington, DC public schools. The partnership schools are Ross Elementary, Thaddeus Stevens Elementary, C. Melvin Sharpe Health School and the SEED Public Charter School. Students served range from elementary school to high school. Educational partnership activities include a tutoring program, a literacy program, student book forums, career fair participation to promote jobs within DOI, providing necessary supplies and materials for the students, exposure to the Department’s vast resources via field trips to the Main Interior Building and local Interior sites, and educational programs that support our mission.
