TROUBLESHOOTING ONLINE TRAINING
OPERATING SYSTEMS AND
BROWSERS:
Do not use Netscape or a Lotus Notes browser
to access online training. Your version of Lotus
Notes may allow you to select the Internet browser used when you
click on a link in an e-mail. If so, go to File, Preferences, Location
Preferences and Internet Browser. Select “Microsoft Internet Explorer”
from the drop-down menu. (DO NOT select “Notes with Internet Explorer.”)
Then click on Save and Close.
If you cannot change your Lotus Notes settings or you experience
problems when clicking on a link to the DOIU web site from an e-mail
message, open Microsoft Internet Explorer in a separate window
and then paste or type the address in the address line of your browser.
For optimal performance, on PC’s using the Microsoft®
for Windows® operating system, use Microsoft® Internet Explorer
version 5.0 or higher. For optimal performance on Macintosh, use
OS 10.3 and either IE 5.2 or Safari.
SCREEN SETTINGS
Your browser window should be maximized, and
will normally come up maximized. If you see the maximize button
in the top right of your browser window (see below), click on the
maximize button. A double image in the circled location indicates
that your browser is already maximized.

If you are using extra
toolbars in your browser, such as a pop-up blocker or
a Google or Yahoo toolbar, and your screen resolution setting is
800 X 600, you may not be able to view all the information on the
course screens.

The missing information
is most noticeable during assessments when the “Submit” button
may not be visible on your screen. Your scores will not be tracked
if you do not use the “Submit” button.

To view the entire course screen and see the
“submit” buttons, you will need to collapse one or more of the toolbars
at the top of your browser window or
change your screen resolution to 1024 X 768 or larger.
To collapse one of the bars, at the top
of your browser window, right click anywhere on the bars.
You will see a list of the bars with a check mark next to the active
bars.

Click on any bar name with a check mark to collapse
the bar. At any time you can right click anywhere on the bars and
click again on the bar name to reactivate it.
If this procedure works, you should not have
to change your screen resolution to see the “Submit” button at the
bottom of the assessment pages.
To change your screen resolution, go to Start, Settings, Control
Panel, Display and Settings. Under Screen resolution, click or
drag the pointer so that the higher screen resolution is displayed.
Then click on “OK” and exit the control panel.
